Canadian Aviation regulations require to hold a Medical Certificate for the permit or license for which you hold or all training for.
There are three types of pilot medicals available:
Category 4
– Recreational Pilot Permit.
- Requires a self-declaration medical form signed by you and your family physician.
- You do not require a medical examination by a Civil Association Medical Examiner (CAME).
- You will need an ECG done if you are 40 years of age or older.
Category 3
– for Private Pilot Permit
Category 1
– Commercial Pilot License
To receive a category 3 or category 1 medical from Transport Canada it can take from 1-3 months. (you will need a valid medical before you can fly solo).
License Fees
If you already hold a license, a fee is due to Transport Canada for medical renewals.
Medical Fee
- To be paid to the doctor
- It is separate from the Transport Canada fee.
