Private Pilot’s Licence

A Private Pilot License, entitles the holder to fly any single-engine, non-high performance land-based aircraft. Additional endorsements may be added with extra training. Examples include:  float-plane endorsement, night rating and an instrument rating.

Requirements

a) Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.

b) Must posses at least a Category 3 medical

c) Minimum hours required are:

i. Minimum of 45 hours of flight training.

ii. 17 hours of dual instruction.
iii. 3 hours of dual cross-country.
iv. 5 hours of solo cross-country.
v. 12 hours of solo flight time
vi. 40 hours of private pilot ground school

d) Minimum grade of 60% on Transport Canada written examination in all 4 sections:

i. General Knowledge
ii. Meteorology
iii. Airlaw
iv. Navigation
