A Night Rating allows the holder of a Private Pilot License to fly at night. The course stresses the use of the instrument procedures for navigation and situational awareness. The Night Rating increases your flexibility, letting you continue your flight after dark, so you need not be grounded when the sun goes down.
Requirements
a) A minimum of a Category 3 Medical
b) A minimum of a Private Pilot’s Licence
c) Minimum hours required are:
i. Minimum of 10 hours of night flight
ii. 5 hours of dual flight time, including two hours cross-country
iii. 5 hours solo flight time, including 10 takeoffs and landings
iv. 10 hours dual instrument time of which not more than five hours may be instrument ground time. (Instrument time flown on the Private Pilot Course may be counted.)
